Azerbaijani delegation at the EU e-Partnership Conference and the 2nd Eastern Partnership (EaP) Ministerial meeting on Digital Economy in Tallinn
Tofig Babayev, Director of R.I.T.A. , EU4Digital: eTrade Network expert, FET& ICT NCP HORIZON2020 in Azerbaijan, HDM contact person in Azerbaijan., visited Tallinn, Estonia, on 4-5 October 2017 with the Azerbaijani delegation that also included:
- Elmir Velizadeh, Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies of the Azerbaijan Republic, Head of delegation
- Isbandiyar Aliyev, Head of Department for Science, Technology and Information Society Development of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of the Azerbaijan Republic, HDM national coordinator
- Bakhtiyar Mammadov, Chief consultant of the Legal department at the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies
- Elgun Valiyev, Advisor at the e-Governance Development Department at the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of the Azerbaijan Republic
- Togrul Huseynov, specialist of International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of the Azerbaijan Republic
On 4 October, the Azerbaijani delegation took part in the EU e-Partnership Conference, where Elmir Velizade gave his opening remarks as the head of the Azerbaijani delegation and Bakhtiyar Mammadov was a panelist at Panel #1 "What should governments do to ensure the reliability of cyberspace?” of Session #1 "Safety and Security of the Cyberspace”. The conference focused on how EU’s Eastern Partnership countries use information and communications technology to promote the transparency of government processes and ensure the safety and security of the cyberspace. It showcased the positive results that have already been achieved in EU Eastern Partnership countries in developing e-governance and provided an opportunity to evaluate the current situation in the region and look at the way forward. At the conference, experts and policy makers from EU member states and Eastern Partnership countries debated issues related to the safety and security of the cyberspace and e-democracy, presenting best practices to exchange ideas for improvement. Policy recommendations were made for the increased safety and security of cyberspace and improved e-democracy.
In the first half of the day on 5 October, the private musical concert "Music without Borders" took place. Thanks to cutting-edge, high-bandwidth networks and innovative technology, renowned musicians located in Tallinn and Minsk played together in real-time. This exclusive event provided musical enjoyment while demonstrating the potential of digital technologies to support harmonious cross-border collaboration.
The second half of the day was devoted to the 2nd Eastern Partnership (EaP) Ministerial meeting on Digital Economy. The aim of the meeting was to reflect upon the progress made since the signing of the declaration of the 1st EaP Ministerial Meeting on the Digital Economy in 2015 and to discuss future plans for 2020, including concrete targets and deliverables that would impact the lives of citizens and the competitiveness of businesses. A declaration was adopted, providing the necessary political momentum for digital cooperation.
