EAST HORIZON and EECA-2-HORIZON projects held on 20 May in Minsk

EAST HORIZON and EECA-2-HORIZON projects held on 20 May in Minsk Director of R.I.T.A., ICT NCP in Azerbaijan Tofig Babaev took part in the meetings of EAST HORIZON and EECA-2-HORIZON projects held on 20 May in Minsk, Belarus. Among the issues discussed at the meetings were common web portal for the projects, ICT communities, dissemination plan and activities. On 21 May, PICTURE project Final Event was held in Minsk. HORIZON 2020 was introduced, PICTURE project results and success stories were shared, recommendations for future cooperation between the ETPs and the EECA region were given, new support opportunities for EECA in H2020 were discussed at the event. Dr. Babayev made a presentation on the outcomes of the PICTURE project in Azerbaijan, and WG3 expert Dr. Elkhan Sabziyev (Kiber Ltd.) spoke about the projects submitted for HORIZON 2020 with PICTURE support.

InfoDay on Horizon2020 at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy

On 18 April 2014, R.I.T.A. held an InfoDay devoted to Horizon2020 at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy. The InfoDay was attended by 55 participants.
Dr. T. Babayev, Director of R.I.T.A., ICT NCP Azerbaijan, made a presentation on Horizon2020. In the first part of the presentation, information was given on the history and aims of EU framework programs from 1984 to the present. The second part of the presentation was devoted to detailed information on Horizon2020, its structure, main areas and topics. The third part dealt with the participation in the program: search and selection of subjects, preparation of project proposals, evaluation of submitted project proposals, etc.
In particular, an example was given of project proposal preparation by the representative of KIBER LLC Dr. E Sabziyev with the assistance of R.I.T.A. for ICT2013 event in Vilnius and the project Idea by Prof. Azad Bayramov "Development of new class of active materials, acoustoelectric and electroacoustic transducers, new switches and interconnects, non-volatile universal memory based on the polymer hybrid of nano- and microferropiezoelectric composites” in the section Industrial Leadership of Horizon2020.

1st ETNA Plus H2020 Transport NCP Forum

1st ETNA Plus H2020 Transport NCP Forum Dr. Tofig Babayev, Director of R.I.T.A., represented Idealist, FET and ICT NCP Azerbaijan at the 1st ETNA Plus H2020 Transport NCP Forum held on 14 April 2014 in Paris, France. 
ETNAplus is a Coordination and support action gathering National Contact Points for Transport. The aim of this event was to provide other NCPs with the latest information relevant to their activities, and allow them to meet important stakeholders.
Dr. Babayev established contact with the Transport NCP Network HORIZON2020.
Dr. Babayev also took part in the work of Transport Research Arena exhibition TRA 2014: Innovate Mobility, Mobilise Innovation that was open at the same time.
TRA showcases European scientific excellence in the field of transport. It encourages interaction between researchers, industry players and public policy makers, who, together, have decided to tackle the mobility challenges of tomorrow.
With the new theme "transport solutions: from research to deployment" and the guiding idea "Innovate Mobility, Mobilise Innovation", the 2014 edition of TRA, the fifth, will be attended by nearly 3,000 participants, including representatives of research laboratories and institutes, industry partners, transport operators, public decision-makers at different levels of governance from European to local, associations and users.

Training in the framework of “Horizon 2020”

Training in the framework of “Horizon 2020” On April 9 -10, 2014 Training in the framework Horizon2020 / IDEALIST2014 / EAST-HORIZON/ NCP activity in Third Countries was held in the main building of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences of (ANAS). The event was jointly organized by International Relations Office and Regional Information Technologies Academy (R.I.T.A) and Presidium of ANAS. 
The event started with the tribute to the founder of Azerbaijani state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev and famous ophthalmologist academician Zarifa Aliyeva by the members of International Relations Office and guests from European Union (EU) who laid flowers on their grave. The guests are ICT NCP in Hungary Edina Nemeth, ICT NCP in Norway Kim Davis, ICT NCP in Latvia Dina Berzina, Project coordinator of PLANET organization in Greece Raphael Koumeri.
Training in the framework of “Horizon 2020” The head of International Relations Office Gulam Babayev underlined Heydar Aliyev’s role in the development of EU and Azerbaijan relationship. Gulam Babayev also mentioned the high-level policy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev who is continuing Heydar Aliyev policy which is behind success and development.
The event continued in the building of ANAS with participation of the researchers from various institutes of ANAS, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Science Development Fund under the President of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Education, representatives of the Delegation of the European Union in Azerbaijan, and other relevant structures. The training was opened by welcoming remarks of Assoc. Prof. Gulam Babayev, Head of International Relations Office of Presidium of ANAS and also Dr. Tofig Babayev, Director of R.I.T.A, Head of Foreign Relations and Innovations Department of the Cybernetics Institute, NCP ICT of the Framework Program in Azerbaijan.

WBC–INCO.NET Final Conference & Brokerage Event

WBC–INCO.NET Final Conference & Brokerage Event Dr. Tofig Babayev, Director of R.I.T.A. ICT NCP Azerbaijan, took part in the WBC–INCO.NET Final Conference & Brokerage Event "Towards 2020: New Horizons for RTD and Innovation in the Western Balkan Region” held on 27-28 March 2014 in Vienna, Austria.
The overall aim of the conference, project exhibiton, and the brokerage event was to provide an environment to build new partnerships for cooperation in Horizon 2020. This event brought together for more than 176 science policy makers, scientists and industry representatives from the Western Balkan Region, SEE, Danube Region but also other EU countries who were interested in cooperation with WB countries. 
The conference was attended by the representatives of Ministry of Education and Science of Albania, Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry of Science and Education and Sports of Croatia, Ministry of Education and Science of FYR of Macedonia, Ministry of Science of Montenegro, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kosovo, and numerous representatives of the scientific community of Western Balkan Region.
While the core focus of the conference was primarily on Horizon 2020 and thus the collaboration in science between WBC and EU Member States under the new Programme, information on other on-going/up-coming activities in WBC – in particular focusing innovation issues – was also exchanged.
Within the conference were held parallel sessions, which on the first day dealt with the issues of effective support of the participation in Horizon 2020. The second day focused on the performance of the research and innovation sector in WBC with discussions of the achievements, challenges and the way forward in the following areas: Human resources and brain drain, RTDI Infrastructues and Knowledge and Technology Transfer.

InfoDay on Horizon2020 at the Azerbaijan Technical University On 12 March 2014, R.I.T.A. held an InfoDay devoted to Horizon2020 at the Azerbaijan Technical University. The InfoDay was attended by 50 participants.
Dr. T. Babayev, Director of R.I.T.A., ICT NCP Azerbaijan, made a presentation on Horizon2020. In the first part of the presentation, information was given on the history and aims of EU framework programs from 1984 to the present. The second part of the presentation was devoted to detailed information on Horizon2020, its structure, main areas and topics. The third part dealt with the participation in the program: search and selection of subjects, preparation of project proposals, evaluation of submitted project proposals, etc.
Examples were given of project proposal preparation by Azerbaijani researchers with the assistance of R.I.T.A. for ICT2013 event in Vinius, such as project Idea "ADVICE-GIVER SYSTEM on OSTEOSYNTHESIS Project ASYSTOS” by the representative of KIBER LLC Dr. Elkhan Sabziyev in the section Industrial Leadership of Horizon2020.
Dr. Babayev answered many questions of the InfoDay participants.
The participants filled in participant’s application forms and were invited to the two days’ twinning/mentoring event on Horizon2020 with participation of EU experts planned for 9-10 April 2014.

On 27 February 2014, R.I.T.A. held an InfoDay devoted to Horizon2020 at the Azerbaijan Institute of Tourism.

In the first part of the presentation, information was given on the history and aims of EU framework programs from 1984 to the present. The second part of the presentation was devoted to detailed information on Horizon2020, its structure, main areas and topics. The third part dealt with the participation in the program: search and selection of subjects, preparation of project proposals, evaluation of submitted project proposals, etc.
In particular, an example was given of project proposal preparation by the representative of the Baku Music Academy Prof. T. Mamedov "Restoration and preservation of the musical legacy of small peoples in the regions” with the assistance of R.I.T.A. for ICT2013 event in Vinius in the section Social Challenges of Horizon2020.
Dr. Babayev answered many questions of the InfoDay participants.
The participants filled in participant’s application forms and were invited to the two days’ twinning/mentoring event on Horizon2020 with participation of EU experts planned for 9-10 April 2014.
