Training in the framework of “Horizon 2020”
On April 9 -10, 2014 Training in the framework Horizon2020 / IDEALIST2014 / EAST-HORIZON/ NCP activity in Third Countries was held in the main building of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences of (ANAS). The event was jointly organized by International Relations Office and Regional Information Technologies Academy (R.I.T.A) and Presidium of ANAS.
The event started with the tribute to the founder of Azerbaijani state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev and famous ophthalmologist academician Zarifa Aliyeva by the members of International Relations Office and guests from European Union (EU) who laid flowers on their grave. The guests are ICT NCP in Hungary Edina Nemeth, ICT NCP in Norway Kim Davis, ICT NCP in Latvia Dina Berzina, Project coordinator of PLANET organization in Greece Raphael Koumeri.
The head of International Relations Office Gulam Babayev underlined Heydar Aliyev’s role in the development of EU and Azerbaijan relationship. Gulam Babayev also mentioned the high-level policy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev who is continuing Heydar Aliyev policy which is behind success and development.
The event continued in the building of ANAS with participation of the researchers from various institutes of ANAS, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Science Development Fund under the President of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Education, representatives of the Delegation of the European Union in Azerbaijan, and other relevant structures. The training was opened by welcoming remarks of Assoc. Prof. Gulam Babayev, Head of International Relations Office of Presidium of ANAS and also Dr. Tofig Babayev, Director of R.I.T.A, Head of Foreign Relations and Innovations Department of the Cybernetics Institute, NCP ICT of the Framework Program in Azerbaijan.
During his speech Gulam Babayev provided some details on the activity of International Relations Office of Presidium of ANAS in the framework of HORIZON2020, important contribution of Dr. Tofig Babayev (R..I.T.A), perspectives and project related activities and also strengthening of relationship between Eastern Europe and Central Asia in the field of ICT.
The Head of Department of relations with the academic structures of foreign countries Dr. Bunyamin Seyidov spoke about the Relevance of HORIZON 2020 topics for Eastern Partnership countries. Additionally, ICT NCP in Norway Kim Davis gave a thorough information on International cooperation opportunities and rules in the framework of HORIZON2020, ICT NCP in Latvia Dina Berzina talked about the aspects of participation, instruments and novelties in the Project, The Project Coordinator of PLANET Raphael Koumeri from Greece gave a speech on Fostering, the possibilities of the programme to train and involve Azerbaijani researchers in HORIZON2020 projects.
It was followed by the information on the detailed description of the Horizon2020 structure and first calls, the improvement of NCP work/services in all three directions.
The two-day training was conducted as a learning through teaching and sharing platform for its participants to consolidate their know-how, present their own challenges and projects and be informed of other good practices in the region. The aim of the training was also to train researchers, research managers and research support services in writing professional and competitive project proposals.
